Burnett, Tagline team to bring haunted ‘House’ to SciFi
According to Tuesday’s Variety, The Sci Fi channel has signed a development deal with Mark Burnett (Survivor) and Tagline Television (USA’s Psych) for Avery House, a new hour-long drama about a haunted house.
Although Burnett is best known for reality TV, this new show is definitely fiction. It revolves around a New York family that moves into a house already inhabited by less corporeal beings.
Written by Dava Savel (Emmy Award-winning writer for Ellen), the script for Avery House has been floating around NBC Universal’s Hollywood headquarters for some time. In fact the Writer’s Guild of America’s house publication, Written By magazine, recently named the script as one of the top 10 best – but unproduced – TV dramas.
According to Variety, Burnett signing on was the key to Sci Fi’s ordering of a pilot for the series.
