‘Battlestar Galactica,’ ‘Heroes’ named top TV by AFI
The American Film Institute, one of the snootier non-profits in Hollywood, announced its 2006 AFI awards. Each year it picks the 10 best films and television shows, according to its 13-person jury.
None of the films chosen this year have science fiction or fantasy themes (unless you count ‘Happy Feet’ – a film about singing, dancing animated penguins).
But the TV category included NBC’s “Heroes” and SciFi’s “Battlestar Galactica.” Additionally, Showtime’s “Dexter” also made the list. Like Heroes, the show about a serial killer trying to do good, has a distinct comic-book flavor.
